Yiheyuan

The Garden Where Peace is Cultivated

TAI CHI IN THE PARK 2008

Don't forget that National Tai Chi Day is June 29th

If you live in Leeds, come to Roundhay Park,

2.30 pm above Waterloo Lake

Rain or shine!

Bring family, friends, picnics, umbrellas, wellies, or whatever you feel is appropriate.  (Sadly, no swords this year please)

If you don't live in Leeds, or even in the UK, just go to your local park at 14.30 in the afternoon on the last Sunday in June and do some Tai Chi.   This event has been held annually for several years, organised by

the Tai Chi Union for Great Britain.

Who We Are

Why We Are Here

Yiheyuan School of Chinese Internal Martial Arts was founded in 1992 in response to requests from people wishing to find some peace and sanity amid the pressures and challenges of modern living.

"Yiheyuan" can be translated as: "the garden where peace is cultivated."  It is named after the garden of the Summer palace in Beijing.

What We Do

We teach a full Martial Arts syllabus in regular classes throughout the Leeds and Wakefield region of West Yorkshire, UK, and also in Cornwall, including Tai Chi ChuanHsing Yi Chuan and Ba Gua Zhang.  Within these classes, we aim to accommodate the individual needs and interests of all students, from practical self-protection skills and competition fighting to improved health and well-being and personal quests for meaning and self-realisation.

We also provide private tuition, short courses, seminars, personal fitness training and a range of personal development, coaching and psychotherapy services.

We have a team of qualified, experienced instructors and assistant instructors who provide a warm welcome and a non-judgmental environment in which all students can develop their skills, explore thier individual areas of interest and achieve their full potential.

On this website we aim to provide a wide range of information, together with some inspirational thoughts and points for reflection.  We have also shared  comments from our students about what they have gained from our courses.

Whether you are seeking to improve your physical martial arts skills, master your own mind, reflect on some of the deeper aspects of Tai Chi or simply find some peace and happiness or read some stories, poetry or words of wisdom and spiritual comfort, we hope that you will enjoy your visit to our site and find something of interest within its pages.

Thankyou for visiting Yiheyuan.

You'll find something worth
looking into in the garden!

Tai Chi Chuan:

Cheng Man Ching Form

by Colin Hamilton

See the Cheng Man Ching Form performed fast, slow and with explosive power (fa jing).

Front and rear views of the form, together with a qigong warm up session and explanations of basic principles, stances and variations, make this an excellent home-study resource for anyone learning the Cheng Man Ching sequence, while the fa jing footage will be of interest to experienced Tai Chi practitioners developing their own internal power.

Available in all our classes from August 2007, this is the first in a series of DVDs which will cover many aspects of our syllabus.
