Well done everybody!

 August 2010

Ben Morris has now achieved the Yiheyuan Instructor's Certificate in Tai Chi Chuan and has been accepted by the BCCMA and TCUGB.
Ben had previously acheived the Level 3 Advanced Certificate in Tai Chi Chuan and is now adept in most aspects of our syllabus including Chen Style.
Well done Ben - a great teacher for the future and a fine advocate for Tai Chi.

More Congratulations due to intrepid Members of our school

This summer, on 25.4.10, Ben Morris completed the London Marathon and raised several hundred pounds for Cancer Research UK.  Well done Ben and thanks to all of you who sponsored him.

Another of our heroes, Richard Morley (BBCs Tai Chi expert, as you may recall), walked 21 miles"off road" from Chatsworth House to the Strines inn on Saturday 15 May for Wheelers and Wobblers: a disabled sports persons charity.

Amanda Halliday completed the Windermere Row (again) on Saturday 12th June, to raise money for St Gemma's Hospice.

And Steve Scholey did the Leeds 10K on the 4th July for the Leeds Children's Charity.

What amazing people we have in this school.

Congratulations to our Team!

who competed in the British Open 2010 on Sunday 11th April

Mike's son is clearly already in training

and is shown here ably assisting in the challenging task of

carrying the family gold back home!

Mike Abosch:  Triple Gold! (Fixed step, moving step and open weight category)

Ben Morris: a Gold (Moving step) and two Bronze (Fixed and open weight)

Amanda Halliday: Silver (Fixed step)

Tom Hadfield: 2 Bronze (Fixed and moving step)

It was Amanda's first competition and she was the first lady from our school to compete in the pushing hands.

Well done everybody!

PREVIOUS YEARS:

More Medals for Mike

Our Mike Abosch came back from the BCCMA Championships with yet another gold medal, this time for the combined fixed and moving step push hands, and a bronze for the veteran San Shou.
Mike, you are truly amazing.

Skill and Skullduggery at the

British Open!

Our guys have done us proud again, gaining more medals in fixed step and moving step pushing hands in Oxford on April 5th, 2009.  Ben

gained a gold and a silver in spite of a nasty bout of gastroenteritis on the day and Mike won a gold and a bronze.

Intriguingly, the guys arrived to find that the arena for the moving step push hands had been reduced to less than a quarter of its usual size, to about half the size of a child's garden trampoline, thereby disadvantaging any contestants who had not trained to fight in such a confined space, in other words just about everybody except students of the event organiser who apparently did exceptionally well in this event!

Our chaps did very well nevertheless and Richard Morley also gave a good account of himself in his first taste of competition fighting.

Nice one guys!

Triple Gold for our Dynamic Duo!

(European Championships 2008)

Once again we are paying tribute to our two heroes, this time freshly returned from the wilds of Sweden, laden once more with precious metals and fully recovered from the ravages of battle.

Mike Abosch enhanced his existing vast collection with a gold for fixed-step and a bronze for free-moving push hands, while Ben Morris came away with two gold medals for moving and free-moving push hands.

The guys have kindly accepted our invitation to recount their great adventure for you all to share.

OK, grasshopper, you're getting the

              hang of it now!

For the full article, written by Ben Morris, click on this link  Perhaps some of you will be inspired enough to join them the next time they venture forth to test their skills in the international arena.

Well done Mike and Ben!  (Again!)

Our congratulations to Mike Abosch who recently won another two gold medals in the BCCMA British Open Championships, in moving and fixed step pushing hands and in San Shou, and to Ben Morris who achieved a gold medal in moving step push hands and a silver in fixed step at the 2008 inter-university martial arts championship in Manchester.

More Medals!

Mike Abosch and Ben Morris collected more medals for pushing hands at the 2008 British Open Championships in April, a bronze in the moving step for Ben, while Mike took silver in the moving step and gold in the fixed step.

Well done again you guys!  We've lost count of how many gold medals Mike has collected but he seems to be at the stage where he's giving Fort Knox some healthy competition.

And here's Mike again, training with Micheal:

And being on the receiving end of Michael's famous ward off:

CONGRATULATIONS!

TOM     MARK     MIKE

Three of our blokes went down to the Chinese Internal Arts Championship in Nottingham on Sunday (11.3.07) and came back with a handful of medals.

Congratulations to Mark Fahy and Tom Hadfield who, on their first venture into the realm of competition, each won a bronze medal for fixed step pushing hands and a silver in the moving step, and to Mike Abosh who also won a bronze for the fixed step and took the gold in the moving step to add to his already substantial previous collection!  Well done chaps!

FURTHER CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Well done to Mark Fahy for battling on bravely at the British Open Championships on Sunday (1st April) despite receiving a nasty black eye, from a close encounter with an elbow, in the first bout.

And congratulations once again to Mike Abosh who received another gold medal for pushing hands and was also presented with a special sword by the Chinese contingent for his services to the Martial Art over the years!

We would also like to thank Dan Docherty for organising these events every year, providing a valuable opportunity for people to test their skills, if they wish to, at national and international level.

MORE CONGRATULATIONS!

This time to Ben Morris, who won the lightweight event in the ground grappling tournament organised by the University of Leeds on 21st April.
