Last Sunday in June every year, 2.30pm | National Tai Chi Day - "Tai Chi in the Park" On the grass above Waterloo Lake at Roundhay Park, Leeds in front of the old and recently restored Victorian "fountain". (Looks a bit like a small temple and doesn't have any actual water coming out of it). This is the big, lower lake, not the top lake with the proper fountains in the middle of it. (We say this because every year some people go to the wrong lake and miss most of the Tai Chi.) This event was initiated by the Tai Chi Union for Great Britain about a decade ago. Tai Chi practitioners throughout the country go out into their local park at 2.30 on the last Sunday in June and just do some Tai Chi, alone or in groups. |

Summer of 2011
This summer we made two more visits to Maitreya's amazing garden. We also had a great day out on National Tai Chi Day, when our Tai Chi in the Park was filmed by two great camaramen and can now be seen on YouTube.
More Medals for Our Chaps...
The amazing Mike Abosch and his stepson Tom Hadfield did us proud again at the BCCMA Championships, September 2010. Having unexpectedly found themselves in the same weight category this time, they had to go head to head in the pushing hands final.
Mike got the gold and Tom the silver. Mike also got a bronze in the San Da.
...and even MORE medals for our chaps
This time a Gold for Richard Morley and a Bronze for Tom Hadfield at the Zhong Ding Competition on 27.2.11 in the open weight push hands. Well done guys!
Mike and Ben had a good rest and just went along to watch this one.

Level 3 Instructor's Certificate in Ba Gua Zhang
We got there in the end!

Before After
Thanks for the patience of the philosophy group and other visitors to the Yiheyuan garden which, at last, is no longer a building site!
Another Great Day Out
Here are a few pics from last year's school trip to Maitreya's Garden (August 2010)
There's always something worth looking into in the garden!

A heavenly tea break
And a heavenly chi break
Our thanks again to our dear friend Maitreya for his hospitality, his beautiful garden, his teachings, his poems, his songs and of course, his heavenly tea and scones!
Our thanks also to our photographer, John Patterson.
If you missed the trip again this year, the garden is open from Easter until the end of September, every day except Mondays.
Bagua in the Park 2010!
This year's Tai Chi in the Park (National Tai Chi Day) saw the return of our original and great Bagua man, Ed Hartley, who teamed up with our champion Ben Morris for a splendid round of Bagua.
A rare treat and far more interesting than the football! Thanks guys.
And thanks to all those of you who came along and helped us to keep the tradition alive.
It was also great to see the return of our old friend John Donegan, last seen as our amazing compere at the Ramgharia Centre display in 2004. John is now a qualified Acupuncturist, so if you fancy some therapy, you know where to come.
If you missed the gathering this year, do join us next year or just go along to your local park.
It's always the last Sunday in June at 2.30pm.
Peace, Perfection and Paparazzi
We thought you might like to share some of the loveley photos taken by John Patterson on our recent school trip. The Saturday morning masterclass and the Philosophy group went down to Maitreya's garden on a fine Saturday morning at the end of September, 2009. We all enjoyed the peace and beauty of the garden
and we have evidence that the paparazzi get everywhere...
It was a good day for taking photographs of people taking photographs
We would like to thank our dear friend Buddha Maitreya for his incredible garden, for his hospitality - including his famous heavenly tea and heavenly scones - and for taking the time to share with us his thoughts about life, meditation and enlightenment.
